Our name, our history

Sidercad has been an Italian Engineering and Information Technology Company active in the international market since 1980. The name Sidercad, which comes from the combination of “sider” (steel) and “cad” (computer-aided Design) refers to the initial mission of the company, established as a part of Italsider, to encourage the use of steel by developing automatic design techniques. The initial experience in the design of steel structures grew over the time and gave rise to an all-round Engineering sector and an independent Information Technology sector.

Sidercad offer in the engineering sector is articulated into a set of design, coordination and consulting activities in civil, hydraulic, infrastructural and environmental engineering. All the design activities in its various levels (feasibility, preliminary, definitive, executive, constructive, as built) are developed with Building Information Modeling BIM techniques.

Sidercad offer in the IT sector is developed in the areas of Custom Software, System Support and Service Activities. The software is developted on web applications based on NEAT technology which uses the most common relational database engines, and concerns Electronic Document Management, Real Estate Management and Collaborative Workflows.

Sidercad carried out the Construction Supervision of the main metal carpentry works (recovery steam generator, chimney, 4 pipe racks, air intake) as part of the works for the complete refurbishment of the plant.

Executive design and installation of portions of Schueco stick system facades within the “Two-Four Wilton Park” project; Sidercad was responsible for 3D modeling, using Inventor software, of the facades and details related to the design.

The new Arenzano and Cogoleto sewage treatment plant is located in Cava Lupara near S.S. 1 Aurelia. On the very degraded site a building of about 20,000 cubic meters screened by strips with Mediterranean vegetation is under construction. Architectural, structural, civil engineering executive design activities have been carried out.

Modeling performed with Inventor software.

Structural design for park and shoot machines in Arcelor Mittal (former Ilva) Taranto plant. 3D modeling and shop drawing of stacker - reclaimer BF1, BF2 3 BF3. Structural calculation performed by finite element program STAAD/Pro, drawing performed entirely in BIM environment with TEKLA program.

The underground natural gas storage facility in Lodi, is one of the largest in Italy. Sidercad carried out the Construction Direction of the surface works, the two clusters and the electrical substation. In addition to coordination, it followed the paperwork towards the Territorial Authorities, both during the start-up and completion of the works.

The subject of the design is the curved, glazed basement of the office tower, which is an anomaly compared to the rest of the building, which has a more regular and standardized surface, despite its complexity. Sidercad carried out shop drawing activities, both of the metal parts and the glazing, all of which were done with the 3D modeler Inventor in BIM mode.

The project, realized in the port of Taranto, involves the extension of the existing pier (about 500 meters long), the construction of a new platform P3 for the shipment of crude oil, and related facilities, including breasting and mooring dolphins. Subsequent activities were carried out to adapt the detailed and executive design to the new NTC 2018.

Italy-France "Piemonte-Savoia" HVDC interconnection power line. It develops for a length of about 95km. Sidercad carried out Survey activities aimed at the executive design of the trench section and the section on the highway viaducts hosting the pipeline, which consist of bridges and viaducts of considerable length.
